Cool Kids Read
The Moves and Grooves “Cool Kids Read” event is a school-based initiative with Book’em, Nashville Rotary, and Belmont University to help elementary kids see reading as the “cool ” thing to do. Volunteers wear their sunglasses and “hip” college gear to read to elementary students through the day. Volunteers distribute books for students to take home along with a new pair of “cool” sunglasses to sport while reading their new favorite book.
Halloween Bowl
Bowl for a great cause and sponsor our teams to support our students directly at our annual Halloween Bowl. Teams of bowlers compete on the lanes at Tusculum Strike and Spare to win prizes and raise money to support children enrolled in one of our many programs.
Art Splash
Our signature event takes place every Spring during the month of March. Art Splash is a gala evening with dinner, performances, and a silent auction. All proceeds help benefit Moves & Grooves youth program operations and capital campaign to create Nashville’s first youth arts center with affordable housing for artists! Help us lay the foundation for the next generation of artists and creatives of Music City.
Relay for Arts
Moves & Grooves Annual Relay for Arts (R4Arts) event is a school-wide jog-o-thon that occurs in September. The R4Arts jog-o-thon is a community effort to be proactive against childhood obesity and raise awareness for greater arts programming in Metro Nashville Schools. The full-day event was held inside a Metro Title 1 School where over 600 students, staff, and community members RUN, JUMP, EAT and DANCE their way into a healthy future for a full 8 hours.
Career Networking Day
Career Networking Day is a speed interview and panel discussion with Nashville leaders and Moves & Grooves students. Afterschool participants who will be entering into the workforce soon get 5-7 minutes to ask questions to their future employers.
Students use this time to interview community leaders, hear their stories, what challenges they face in leadership, and how students can present themselves as the best candidate for future employment. Join us to inspire the next generation of leaders by sharing your story during a 5-minute speed networking event. Contact us at admin@movesandgrooves.org for more details.
