Dr. Emerald Mitchell
Executive Director / Program Director     

Moves & Grooves founder, Dr. Mitchell was once an inner-city child in Portland, OR destined for disaster, until she was accepted into a local non-profit organization called Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI). Given a positive role model and a chance to travel out of the neighborhood through the help of Self-Enhancement, she was able to discover a world of opportunity and options. Now, a decade later, Dr. Mitchell is a wife and mother of 4, a former school teacher, a graduate of Fisk University and Tennessee State University with a master's degree in both Business and Education. In May 2016, Dr. Mitchell received her doctorate degree in Leadership & Supervision.

Why she started Moves & Grooves, Inc: Dr. Mitchell believes that Moves & Grooves is her opportunity to give to other people what was once given to her... a choice.

Britney Taylor
Director of Dance / Program Director    

I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. I trained at Knoxville Performing Arts Studio from the ages ten to seventeen, and was a member of my high school’s dance team. I also had the privilege of training at Millennium Dance Complex in Hollywood, CA while in high school. Upon graduating high school I received a performing arts scholarship to Lees-McRae College where I performed in a variety of musical theater productions and dance concerts. I transferred to MTSU where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in child development and family studies with a minor in education. While at MTSU I was a member of the MTSU Dance Team. After graduating, I had the pleasure of dancing for the Nashville Predators for a year. I am married and have a son.

Why I work with Moves & Grooves, Inc: I decided to work at Moves & Grooves because I have a passion for dance and I like the way MAG incorporates dance and education into their programs.

Kifah Fluker
Human Resources / Program Director     

I am originally for Portland, Oregon. I attended Fisk University in Nashville, TN for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and went on to Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia for my Dual Masters in HR Management and Organizational Development. I have spent some of my career in Management, Recruiting for Professional Services, and now that I am with Moves and Grooves I am in a Strategic Management position. Outside of my professional career I have a beautiful daughter and we enjoy traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with one another.

Why I work with Moves & Grooves, Inc: My desire to work for Moves and Grooves comes from a love of children and the impact that I know I can make in a child’s life because I have a mentor as a child and they were truly the difference in my life that kept me on the right path.
